Variable Messaging Signs activated

In conjunction with Operation Moving Traffic Adelaide, today 28 'Variable Messaging Signs' which display travel times and alternative routes were switched on across the city.

This will allow motorists to choose the quickest route to where they want to go. This is another example of how improving technology across our road network can improve traffic efficiency and travel times.

The technology uses bluetooth technology to detect traffic levels at key intersections which can then determine approximate travel times.

In the coming weeks, the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure will also be turning on another 8 signs on the Northern Expressway and Port Wakefield Road.
