Community Win: Sewage stack, Keppel Grove Reserve

Over the past couple of weeks I have been approached by a number of residents from our community who have raised concerns with a sewage stack located in Keppel Grove Reserve. This stack is located next to the footbridge crossing the lake that links Corcoran Drive and Keppel Grove to Bartley Terrace.

The stack has been emitting an unpleasant odour and it appeared that the access door was not properly secured, nor has the site has adequately maintained.

I have written to the Minister for Water and the River Murray, the Hon Ian Hunter MLC raising these concerns and I am pleased to announce a site inspection has been undertaken. As a result, SA Water has now fitted a filter to the stack, washed and disinfected the site and introduced a weekly caustic soda treatment. SA Water has also ordered repairs to the access doors and reminded operators to ensure all doors are properly secured when leaving the site.

I would like to thank the residents who brought this issue to my attention and I am pleased the problem in now being addressed. If you have any other issues, please raise them with me on 8268 2680.
