Budget 15/16: Investing in high-tech tools for a 21st century police force

The State Government’s commitment to law and order means that we now have more police with better resources, meaning less crime in our community.

The 2015-16 State Budget continues this commitment with $85 million in extra funding for safer communities.

Front line police will be equipped with body-worn video devices and police cars issued with portable electronic tablets as part of the State Government’s continued investment in the South Australian police service.

Body worn cameras will also assist police in gathering evidence on the scene, potentially leading to quicker prosecutions and safer policing.

Electronic tablets (similar to iPads) will allow police to do more work on the road, without needing to return to their desks to file paperwork.
